Neonatal Care-low risk (2 credits) The course equips the leaner with knowledge, attitude and skill to care for the low risk neonate utilizing the midwifery management process.  It covers physiological adjustments, immediate and subsequent care and minor disorders of the newborn.

lntra-partum Care-low risk (7 credits) The course is intended to equip the leaner with knowledge appropriate for the care of the low risk woman during all stages of labour utilizing the midwifery management process.  It entails theoretical  basis for intra-partum care, process of labour and basic skills in the management of labour.


Post-partum Care-low risk (2 credits) The course enables the learner to acquire knowledge on physiological  and psychological changes during puerperium. It also assists the leaner to apply theoretical  information to provide immediate and subsequent care to the low risk delivered mother utilizing the midwifery management process. The course covers the physiology of puerperium, management of low risk post partum mother and basic skills.

High risk Perinatal Care(4 credits) The course is intended to equip the learner with theoretical  knowledge on high risk antepatum, lntrapartum care. It also assists  the learner to utilize the midwifery management process in the care of clients  with high risk conditions during pregnancy,  labor, delivery and post delivery period. The course entails   obstetric  emergencies.

Research (3 credits)  The course is designed  to assist the students to synthesize and intergrate knowledge of research in clinical practice. The course entails an in-depth  review of the research process,  report writing  and dissemination of the findings. Designing a research proposal  from formulation  of a research question to methodology is also a requirement.
